I loved reading the biography of Mary by James Pope-Hennessy, and the follow up about writing it. Completely changed my perspective.

“She is one of the kindest and most considerate of people, and it is not for nothing that most of the staff in her employ have been there all their lives, and grown old with her.” My great-grandfather was one of those staff; he (so my grandmother said) deeply respected her, and returned from a formal retirement to continue to work with her - so I think he would have agreed with Marion Crawford.

I enjoyed this. I recently read Jane Ridley's George V and Mary comes across very differently in that biography. If anything she was the more entertaining and interesting of the two.
