Most history enthusiasts and royal followers love to look back on photographs and imagine what the subjects were thinking, how vivid the black and white clothes would be in color, and most of all, to find family members who look alike. Royal followers in particular love to map out which members of the royal family look the most alike, and compare throwback photos to photos of current members. (Princess Beatrice and Queen Victoria for example.) But there is one person who has subtly shaped the look of so many of the royal family members that when you look at them all together, it is startling how much they look alike!
Queen Mary, the wife of George V is, I think, the royal who has the most dominant traits still possessed by the modern royal family. And, no doubt, we will see more of her traits shine through the as the current generation of royal children grow up. So, lets take a look at FIVE generations of Royal ladies who have carried on the look of their mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.
Many of the men in the royal family, including George VI also carry a strong resemblance to Queen Mary. Princess Margaret and her daughter Lady Sarah Chatto do as well and a photo of them can be seen here.
In generations before, the very dominant trait was the very round Hanoverian eyes, which can be seen from George I right down through to Princess Mary (pictured above) and even today in Princess Beatrice. (Which is why she is so often compared to Queen Victoria.) But, if you are asking who MOST of the modern Royal Family members look like, it has got to be Queen Mary.
So, let me know what you think. Have you ever noticed this strong resemblance? Do you see other strong resemblances in the royal family? Comment below!
